Job Announcement
The Norwalk Police Department is seeking Out of State Certified Police Officers to fill current and future job openings. We are seeking enthusiastic, proactive officers with a good understanding of community based policing, who to take pride and ownership in their work and the community they serve.
Qualified Applicants with valid CPCA Entry Level Officer Exam scores and a CHIP physical agility card are permitted to register now on-line by submitting an application through PoliceApp. See below for minimum qualifications. Applicants must also submit a resume and copy of their current certification by attaching it to their PoliceApp Application. Applicants that do not submit a resume and proof of certification will not be considered. *Certified officers starting salary is at step three of six pay steps.
*top salary based on top grade patrol officer (6 step) salary including all salary benefits. Top grade before benefits is $92,124 on 1/1/2024.
CERTIFIED OFFICER POSITION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be currently certified and in good standing or within the certification period for their agency.
- Minimum two years’ experience from certification date
- No more than a 2 year break in service if not currently employed
- You must take and pass the Police Physical Ability Assessment Program (CHIP) CT CHIP
- You must take and pass the CPCA Entry Level Officer Exam -CPCA written
- No felony convictions
- No Class A or Class B misdemeanor convictions
- No Domestic Violence convictions
- No act of perjury or false statement
- Not dismissed from any former law enforcement unit for malfeasance or other serious misconduct (or resigned or retired while under investigation for same).
- Upon hiring - Residence within 40 miles of Norwalk police headquarters.
- Pass an employment psychological and polygraph examination.
- Pass a comprehensive medical exam and drug screen.
- Vision -Corrected 20/30 - Uncorrected 20/100
- No tattoos on or above the neck, or on hands (*exceptions apply)
