Peach County - Manufactured Home Appraiser

Summary

This is an appraiser position with the primary purpose of determining the assessed value of manufactures homes for prebill and real property tax digest as set by the state of Georgia and local ordinance.

Major Duties

The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

• Responsible for assessing manufactured homes for permits, decals
• Responsible for assessing manufactured home appeals
• Responsible for maintaining an accurate and equitable valuation of manufactures homes on the Prebilled and Real Property Digest.
• Responsible for data entry of all manufactured homes on tax digest.
• Assist Tax Commissioner in posting delinquent tax notices for Real and Prebill properties
• Responsible for measuring new improvements and additions of residential property on-site; including following up for determining percentage of completion of work
• Assist taxpayers and public as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The Manufactured Home Appraiser must be knowledgeable of the following principles, procedures, and concepts:

• Ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, and maintain an effective relationship with the taxpayer and/or public.
• Ability to be resourceful and ask questions or seek direction from the appropriate sources when needed.
• Ability to continually learn new regulations, procedures, equipment, and systems.
• Knowledge of Georgia laws pertaining to property assessment taxation.
• Knowledge of property appraisal methodology, principles, and practices.

Training and/or Experience Needed

High school diploma or GED, with additional vocational/technical training in property appraisal; supplemented by up to two (2) years' experience in property appraisal work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

• Salary/Step/Grade: 12-6E (Appraiser I) $21.07
• Salary/Step/Grade: 12-7F (Appraiser II) $21.73
• Possession of a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator's license

Travel

Travel is required within Peach County as well as various locations throughout the State for training.

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in written form in a professional manner to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and/or provide service.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to interpret and understand a variety of forms, reports, manuals regulations, and other means of instruction and guidance.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires light-to-medium demands with intermittent sitting, standing, walking computer use, and occasional lifting of lightweight objects. In addition, the physical demands required the need to distinguish between shades of colors.

Work may also be performed outdoors when inspecting property, where employees may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and grease as well as occasional heat, cold, or inclement weather.
