PEACH COUNTY, GEORGIA
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to receive and respond to incoming calls to the County's emergency 911 communication system; dispatch emergency service and/or law enforcement personnel as appropriate.
Duties are performed in a fast-paced Emergency Dispatch Center environment. Communications Deputies provide excellent customer service to the public while obtaining information from callers and emergency responders during stressful conditions.
Communications Deputies work twelve (12) hour rotating shifts. We are open 24-7,365 including holidays. Successful candidates will be assigned to one of the following shifts: 0600-1800,1800-0600 or 1200-0000, as well as, having on-call duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
This is a non-exempt, entry-level position. High School Diploma or GED required.
Enthusiastic, career-minded applicants, meeting all prerequisite skills and abilities will be trained.
Technical/vocational communications training or a closely related field, supplemented by emergency communications training and experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job is preferred.
One to two years’ work experience in the emergency response field and/or customer service field is helpful.
Successful completion of pre-employment assessment tests to include (but not limited to) written, oral, and decision-making modules.
The computerized assessment test evaluates the applicant’s actual skills, including computer-related skills and multi-tasking capabilities necessary in today’s dispatching environment.
Applicant must possess or be eligible to obtain within first six (6) months of employment valid GCIC Operator, Basic Communication, CPR, Emergency Dispatch, and POST certifications.
Applicant must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. DMV history, criminal background checks, and employment history are required. Applicants must pass pre-employment drug screen.
