Internships
The Nampa Police Department recognizes and provides learning opportunities for persons studying in criminal justice and related fields through an internship program. Internships provide a valuable opportunity for qualified students to participate in the day-today functioning of a justice-related agency, The Nampa Police Department. Interns will observe police functions in a regulated manner. It is also imperative that The Nampa Police Department properly screens those persons wanting to intern in order to safeguard the integrity of the Nampa Police Department and to provide those persons the most productive internship possible without subjecting them to undue risk or harm during their experience.
ABOUT THE NAMPA POLICE DEPARTMENT
- The City of Nampa’s population is approximately 102,000 people.
- The Nampa Police Department has 132 sworn officers and 50 support personnel.
- The Nampa Police Department is a self-sufficient police agency with a dispatch center, crime lab, SWAT, Bomb Unit, Crisis Negotiates Team, K-9 Unit, Traffic Unit and a 24-hour records division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- No marijuana drug use in the last three years or illicit drug use in the last five years.
- Must be a legal citizen of the United States.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited school.

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers:
No marijuana uses in the last three (3) years or illicit drugs use in the last five years (5).
No felony or serious Misdemeanor convictions since the age of 18.
- No under the age of 18 adult criminal waivers
- No undetected felony or serious misdemeanor committed by applicant since the age of 18
- No minor Misdemeanor convictions in the last 5 years or extensive minor misdemeanor history
- Able to meet all IDAPA rules concerning character, drug use, traffic violations and criminal violations.
