Full-Time Police Officer
The Town of Millinocket has an immediate opening for a highly motivated, community oriented full-time Police Officer. To be considered for this outstanding opportunity, applicants shall be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Maine driver's license. Candidates that are not full-time certified must have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT Test and have recently passed (within the last year) the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's physical agility test and have the ability to perform the essential job functions of a Law Enforcement Officer. An Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or a combination of relevant training and experience is desirable. Preference will be given to graduates of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program (BLETP).
Candidates must have no criminal or adverse traffic record and may undergo an oral interview, background investigation, polygraph, psychological testing, and a medical exam.

The Millinocket Police Department is a small Community Oriented police department that provides 24 hour coverage, 7 days a week. The town of Millinocket has a population of 4500 (estimate) people.

This is a full-time position (42 hours per week). Officers work three 12 hour shifts in what is known as the Pitman work schedule. Every other weekend is a long weekend.
Starting Salary for an academy graduate can be as high as $24.02/hour depending on experience.
Pre-Academy starting salary is $20.00 going to $20.60 after graduating the academy. Yearly salary range, $44,720-$53,686.
