ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/PAYROLL TECHNICIAN

 

The City of Duluth, Georgia, is accepting applications for the position of full-time Accounts Payable/Payroll Technician.

This position is a mixture of Accounts Payable and Payroll duties. This work requires multitasking with accuracy and efficiency with great attention to detail, requires work to be completed within designated timeframes and in accordance with established procedures, and involves interaction with co-workers, department heads/supervisors, vendors, and the general public.

The accounts payable portion involves assisting with the general accounting and financial activities of the City, involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, office supply purchasing for the administrative offices, purchase orders, electronic scanning of records, and other financial activities.

The payroll portion involves the preparation and processing of the bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for all city employees on a rotating basis with the Sr. Payroll & Benefits Specialist. Additionally, this position provides assistance to employees pertaining to payroll and benefits, maintenance of personnel records, reconciling and preparing insurance premium invoices for payment, and miscellaneous Human Resources duties.

Applicants must possess:

  • A high school diploma or state-issued GED supplemented by training from a recognized institution in accounting, payroll, and general office practices, or closely related areas.
  • A college degree or diploma from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in an accounts payable and/or payroll position is required.

Chosen candidate(s) are subject to skills testing, interviews, and an extensive background investigation, including a credit history review and drug testing.
