SALARY
Compensation Guidelines (Effective 07/01/2025 in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements)
Starting Salary:
- First Year Salary: $76,622
- Certified Police Officers (2+ years): $79,015
Top Step Trooper Salary (Step 8): $119,020
Overtime Opportunities: Up to $92/hour for highway construction projects
Salaries above include meal stipend every shift worked, to include overtime shifts.
STATE CAR & GASOLINE
Personal use of take-home cruiser, in accordance with current rules and regulations.
FREE UNIFORMS & DRY CLEANING
- Cleaning stipend of $650.00 per year for specific non-uniformed positions
- Safety shoes and equipment stipend of $150.00 per year
WELLNESS
Annual $500.00 Wellness Stipend
MEDICAL & DENTAL BENEFITS

QUALIFICATIONS
In order to be considered for Trooper Trainee, applicants must;
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age. There is no maximum age limit.
- Must be a US Citizen, have Permanent Legal Residency, or be a recipient of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to enter the academy.
- Be in general good health, drug-free and have sufficient strength, stamina and agility as required by duties of the position.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED by the completion of training.
- Be free from Felony and Class A or B misdemeanor convictions.
- Have a good educational and work record and excellent moral character.
- Have normal hearing, normal color vision and depth perception, and binocular vision. Distance and near vision (with lenses) must be 20/30 in each eye.
- Obtain a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License and establish residency in Connecticut before graduating from the Academy.
