Position Summary 

The Reentry Transport Specialist provides safe, reliable transportation for former inmates participating in reentry and rehabilitation programs. The position supports individuals by transporting them to and from treatment services, recovery support meetings, educational testing, social service agencies, and other approved destinations. This role plays a key part in helping participants access critical services, maintain stability, and successfully reintegrate into the community. This position is part-time up to 1040 hours per year.

Qualifications 

  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum two (2) years of professional or volunteer experience in social work, behavioral health, criminal justice, or related human services field.
  • Preferred – Certified or Provisional Peer Recovery Specialist

Essential Job Functions 

  • Safely transport program participants to scheduled appointments, meetings, or community resources as assigned.
  • Ensure the safety, security, and confidentiality of all passengers and information.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Outreach Coordinator regarding trip schedules, participant needs, and any incidents or delays.
  • Monitor and report concerns about participants’ well-being or behavior to appropriate staff for follow-up.
  • Provide supportive interaction and model appropriate professional behavior to encourage positive engagement and reentry success.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and documentation of service activity.
  • Conduct basic vehicle inspections before and after transport; report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Assist with responding to Post Overdose Support Team follow-ups with clinical staff for warm-hand offs to treatment services.
  • Support the Outreach team with data entry, case documentation, or appointment scheduling as needed.
  • Adhere to all WCSO policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism and discretion at all times.

Required Skills 

  • Understanding of community resources, reentry programs, and social service systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain professionalism in sensitive situations with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Skilled in de-escalation of individuals who may be experiencing stressful or emotional challenges.
  • Ability to follow structured schedules, written procedures, and agency safety policies.
  • Strong sense of integrity, dependability, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to drive and sit for extended periods (up to 4 hours per day).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally and perform basic bending, reaching, and walking.
  • Tolerance to weather conditions during transport operations.
