Job Announcement

General Statement of Job

Assist patrol deputies and investigators with criminal cases and calls for service, distribute intelligence and information, prepare crime analysis reports, prepare criminal bulletins and intelligence reports, and analyze general criminal intelligence. This position is responsible for intelligence and clerical tasks for assigned area of responsibility.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

· A high school diploma or GED certificate

· Possess a valid driver license

· Experience in an analytical role or closely related position preferred.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is preferred

 

Essential Job Functions

· Regular and prompt job attendance.

· Assists deputies and investigators in gathering intelligence on active cases.

· Answer departmental telephones and provides the requested information or directs calls to the appropriate personnel.

· Conducts research pertaining to calls for service and criminal cases to include FCIC/NCIC histories, driver's license histories and photos, database searches, reports, and arrest records.

· Prepares crime/officer safety bulletins and intelligence reports.

· Analyzes that data for pertinent links and associations.

· Searches Internet resources for information related to assignments.

· Documents and researches information from citizens and law enforcement personnel on related crimes; enters that information into agency databases and analyzes any links to other cases making notifications as appropriate.

· Perform related duties as required.

 

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

· Knowledge of or ability to learn laws, legal codes, government regulations, agency policies and procedures.

· Knowledge of or ability to learn administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology.

· Intermediate knowledge and above average skill in the use of computer hardware and software including word processing, database, spreadsheets and specialized software.

· Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sensible solutions.

· Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions including finding relationship among seemingly unrelated events.

· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.

· Ability to discern when something is wrong or likely to be wrong; does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

· Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner.

 

Standards to Perform Job Functions 

The physical abilities listed below are estimates of time spent during a typical work day to perform essential functions and responsibilities. Members in this position may be required to:

· Sit up to 8 hours per day

· Stand up to 1 hour per day

· Walk up to 1 hour per day

· Drive up to 1 hour per day

· Lift up 50 lbs.

· Occasionally bend, squat, climb, reach, kneel, and/or twist
